A130 Sadlers Farm Junction Improvement Scheme: Pre Earth works and Mainline Drainage Works

Owls Hall Environmental was awarded the pre-earthworks and drainage package for one of the largest infrastructure schemes in the East of England.

Sadlers Wells drainageSadlers Farm Junction improvement scheme included provision of a dedicated strategic link from the A13 London to the A130 Chelmsford. The scheme promised to deliver faster and safer journeys. The overall budget for the scheme was £63m.

Initially winning the pre-earthworks drainage contract, Owls Hall Environmental was subsequently offered the mainline drainage work contract due to the quality of our work and high health and safety standards. The mainline drainage work\\\’s service included installation of large concrete pipe outfalls, gullies, manholes, culverts and headwalls catch pits and access chambers, storm water attenuation and linear soakways. The project included Section 8 works ranging from 1.5m deep to 7m deep.

We applied innovative techniques to the project in terms of utilisation of trench machines and stone carts on site to reduce wastage of materials.

The programme was very challenging in respect of timescales and had to be carried out under and close collaboration with the buildings and earthworks contractor. We constantly maintained contact on site to ensure a systematic and seamless return to project, minimising adverse impact to the programme.
